Cool Mom Fall - a laid back look

Writer's picture: Katelyn GegasKatelyn Gegas

We've all heard of hot mom summer, hot girl summer, and those are great, but we're *finally* entering spooky season, which also means, FALL FASHION. As a mom of two kids, when I am creating a look, 9 out of 10 times, I need to be able to wear it chasing around 2 little ones and still be comfortable.

All of the above come in multiple colors, of course. I live in South Carolina, so layering is KEY. If I wanted to dress this up, I'd add some chunky gold jewelry, like this, but most likely, we would just walk around like this.

This Stanley is the perfect size for my cup holder, and holds just -0the right amount of coffee for my daily caffeine dose. My favorite part, besides the sleek look? It actually keeps my coffee hot - something that plagues busy moms across the world. There's always something that distracts us before we can savor each delicious, hot drop of coffee.

I am allllll for beltbags. Seriously, I fought the trend for a long time--but let me tell you, they are SO convenient. I hate that purses are constantly sliding off my shoulder, or I have to set the down (I've walked away a time or two). I love that this option provides a cute, but also effective way of carrying my essentials. This one is big enough for a few wipes and a diaper or two, so I don't have to carry a diaper bag. That's a win in my book.

This sweatshirt -- need I say more? Honestly, perfect and comes in a ton of colors. One of my favorite ways to layer with leggings is an over-sized denim jacket, because it is not only trendy, but super comfortable and allows room for me to move when I am chasing after my kiddos. Speaking of leggings, I opted for some faux leather leggings to add visual interest and elevate the look a little. These are also perfect for date night.

We all know the perfect outfit is all about styling, but if you're anything like me, it still needs to be 100% functional. These socks are adorable, but also a great length so they can be worn with taller boots as well, and are thin enough to layer, or not sweat to death in warmer climates. The boots--so chic, so comfy, can be dressed up, or down. I love a good pair of sunglasses that aren't TOO dark to wear when it's slightly cloudy, but still too bright to go without them, ya know?

Didn't do your hair? No worries, this beanie keeps your head warm and allows you to go one *extra* day of not washing your hair. You're welcome.

Honestly, with this look, you could go grocery shopping, to the farmers market, to a chill brunch with the girls, the park with your kids, or even on a date night down town (but the kind where you walk around and window shop while eating food from the street carts). I hope this was helpful, and if you decide to wear this look, something similar, or grab one of these staple items in my closet, tag me @kategegas on Instagram or TikTok!

Happy styling! :)
